Storyline. A feisty OAP (old age pensioner) desperate to pay for her son’s wedding band starts a ZoomFans baking channel, but quickly realises that her version of baps and buns may be somewhat different.

As a Costume Assistant at Baps and Buns, with Claree Short Films, a Limerick-based production company, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the dynamic world of costume design and production. My role involved collaborating closely with the costume designer and production team to bring characters to life through meticulously crafted wardrobe choices.

Working at Baps and Buns allowed me to hone my skills in costume design and production, deepen my understanding of the industry, and contribute to the creation of visually compelling narratives. This experience has been invaluable in my journey as a fashion and costume designer, reinforcing my passion for bringing characters to life through thoughtful and creative wardrobe choices.

Key Responsibilities:

Costume Preparation and Organisation:

I assisted in the preparation and organisation of costumes, ensuring each piece was ready for fittings, rehearsals, and shoots. This included tasks such as steaming, ironing, and making minor alterations to garments.

Fittings and Alterations:

I played a crucial role in fittings, helping the lead Actress, Rosemary Henderson try on costumes and executed necessary alterations to ensure perfect fit and comfort.

Collaboration and Communication:

Effective communication with directors, and actors was essential. I ensured that costume changes were communicated clearly and that all team members were on the same page regarding wardrobe details.

Sourcing and Purchasing:

I was responsible for sourcing clothing, fabrics, accessories, and other costume elements, working within tight budget constraints. This involved extensive research and visits to stores and costume suppliers.

On-Set Assistance:

During production, I was on set to assist with quick changes, costume maintenance, and any last-minute adjustments needed to ensure continuity and visual appeal.
